Driver

General Summary

Reach Adult Service provide transportation for our clients to the facility and back home. The Reach Services will also provide transportation to medical appointments and field trips along with other destination if needed.

Job Description

• Implement Safety-Check (Maintenance) van before route and end of the day.
• Record maintenance, miles and perform routine checklist.
• Daily report to Director at the end of the Day.
• Transport wheelchair up and down ramp.
• Operate wheelchair lift, use hydraulic automatic lift.
• Operate special seatbelts and straps attached to the floor to secure the wheelchair during transportation.
• Must know that safety is a Priority.
• Daily report to Director at the end of day is mandatory.
• No use of cell phone or texting while driving. If needed usage of cell phone, pull over to a safety point.
• No smokes or use of drugs and alcohol allowed on bus.
• No stops between pickups and drop off.
• Must be accessible by phone to communicate at all times.
• In case of emergency notify the proper personnel then notify management.
• Transport clients to and from the facility daily.

Employment Standard

• Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Must have a valid Driver’s License; must possess CDL passenger endorsement license; must have a DOT Health Card.
• The Driver must pass a Criminal Background Check both State and Federal.
• The Driver must e free of Alcohol and Drugs at all times and must submit to a random drug testing.
• High school education preferred.
• Must be able to read schedules and follow driving direction.
• Experience in transporting people is preferred.
• The basic knowledge of our service is expected.
• Must have a valid CPR and First Aid Certification.

Safety Standards

Safety Measurement

• Driver name card placed in front of the bus.
• A list of each client with address and emergency contact.
• A directory of Police, Fire Department, and Ambulance for surrounding counties is accessible.

Knowledge of

Screening will be done before and during the hiring process. Periodic screening may take place during the course of the year at the discretion of Reach Adult Service. Any results which are deemed to put passengers or the company at risk will result in the immediate ineligibility and/or termination of the employee.

Due to the unique nature of our type of business there may be sometimes during the workday when you are not working you will not be paid for this time. Therefore during the downtime if you choose you can work in the facility in other train position. An individual in this position will be expected to perform additional job-related responsibilities and duties as assigned and/or necessary.
